Granite State Opera's season begins with passionate story of the joys and despairs of love.

Violetta is a glittering but consumptive courtesan in 1850’s paris who genuinely falls in love, in spite of herself. She and her new love Alfredo move to the country, but his father Germont convinces her to leave him, for the scandal would ruin Alfredo’s sister’s opportunity for happiness in this strict society. When she does, Alfredo thinks she has just left him for a rich man, and denounces her at a party in front of all the guests. They are finally reunited in one of opera’s most beautiful and heartbreaking scenes.

Nouné Karapetian sang the role of Violetta beautifully as a last minute replacement for Alyson Cambridge (Metropolitan Opera). This new production designed by Ryan McGettigan of Glimmerglass Opera is sung in Italian with English titles.

A nobleman’s ambition is driven by a mysterious prophecy and his Lady’s lust for power in Verdi’s first Shakespearean masterpiece.

After a bloody battle, Macbeth, Thane of Glamis, is greeted by witches referring
to him as Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, and King of Scotland. Confused
by this greeting, he is soon met by messengers who rush in with the news that the
king has made him Thane of Cawdor – the first prophecy has come true! Macbeth
tells his Lady of the prophecy and together they are determined to do anything and
everything to make him the King. They will even ruthlessly kill anyone they need to, until Birnham Wood marches to their door.

Michael Corvino (Granite State Opera’s Rigoletto) returns as Macbeth and Bel Canto star Barbara Quintiliani (Washington National Opera) sings Lady Macbeth in this dramatic new production designed by Quentin Stockwell that will conclude Granite State Opera’s Verdi Season!
